Two Snoopy Band-Aids

I can't believe Miss Scarlett is two months old.  She weighs 11 lbs!  She had her first shots today.  Screamy-screamy!  J was the best.  He just scooped her up a consoled her and would not let her go.  Even though she quieted down, he carried her all the way back to the car while I pushed the empty stroller.

Thank goodness for Infant Tylenol.  She seems to be doing okay, but she breaks out into occasional screams, like she's having a flashback.  Its hard to see your wee baby not feeling good.

I asked the doctor how he compared individual vaccines to grouped vaccines and I got the full on vaccine speech.  Urp.  Sorry I asked.  My sister thinks her kids have a speech delay due to the grouped MMR vaccine.  I dunno.

"You are writing the story of your only life, every single day. And my greatest hope for you, sweet child, is that I can teach you how to write a good one."
  • I don't know about all babies forgetting.  My niece doesn't forget squat.  She screams everytime they take her to the docs now, after about her third set of shots it was downhill after that.  I had to take her once and she cling to me, I had to pry her off my shirt to lay her on the exam table, you would have thought we were murdering her in that room.

I think you are fully within your rights to ask about the individual shots. I am leaning towards that schedule majorly. I know a lot of doctors get defensive about it.

I requested my infant vaccination records just to compare how many vaccines kids get today to how many I got in 1984 and it was more than twice as many.  I don't know if it's the frequency of shots or the ingredients in the vaccines now, but something makes me uneasy about it. I think every parent has the right to do what's right for their child and not get judged by anyone else. I am all for vaccinations, I'm just very interested in the delayed vaccination schedule.

  • He did say we could wait on the MMR until 15 months.  Then he said:  Then again, if she got measles at 14 months, that would be bad.  Thanks for the hint, doc.
  • Aria, who is your ped?
  • Poor thing!  Hope she feels better!

  • Dude. I'm all for vaccinations, but I definitely think it's an ok choice to spread them out! And it is more than ok to ask about spreading them out! Sheesh. Docs with their panties in a bunch. . .
