Re: ~Bumps, Mothers, and Others~

  • Nothing much to report. Before ttc I had the Implanon hormone implant. If we ever have a child I don?t know what we?ll do since hormones are out of the question.

  • How are you this week? Ups and downs to report? News? My cysts shrunk from last cycle, so I have a chance again this cycle.  If this cycle is a bust, I will have a laparoscopy to take a look at things.

QOTD: I took different oral birth control pills. At this point, I'd rather not go back on it, I don't like the idea of taking hormones indefinitely, but it has its perks. The pill made my cycles much more bearable and predictable.

  • Ups: He's lovely, and generally going great. He's cut 1 and 2 halves of the three molars he's working on, if htat makes sense. He's slowly getting more adventurous with his walking, but still mostly crawls.

Downs: teething, teething and teething. We got 4 hours of sleep last night and W got 7. Not ideal. He's also pooing all.the.time - and it's really nasty stuff. Ugh.

QOTW: I'd been on the pill for ages, but hated it. So for a year or so (?) we were just using the barrier method. (Which we're still using.) We were tempted by just using NFP but I didnt' sleep for enough hours in a row to get an accurate temp, and w/o that, I didn't feel it would have been effective as 'contraception'. I'm also tempted by a coil/IUD. DH is squeamish about teh risk of being 'poked' inside, but it'd be nice to not have to worry about condoms. (Not that we use that many, but that's back to yesterday's post!)

  • How are you this week? Ups and downs to report? News? I'm doing pretty good this week.  It's my second week of doing the '30 Day Shred' work-out and I am starting to notice a slight difference already.

As for Leo, ahhh, he's been really funny about his eating and sleeping this week and I have no idea what the issue is.  All I know is that I am so happy that it's Friday and dh takes over sleep duty tonight.

QOTD: What methods of birth control did you use before TTCing?  After? I was on the pill and then I tried FAM.  Now I am back on the pill.

  • No news here. We used condoms for a while. I did take the pill (few types) as a teenager for PCOS management. I hated them.

After I think it'll be condoms or nothing.

  • We just got back from D.L.'s one-year check up.  She is doing fine.  Weight is exactly as expected, just a bit under the average curve but consistent and nothing to worry about.  We're quite puzzled to be told her height is less than expected, though.  She's consistently been much longer than any baby clothes manufacturer expects her to be.  I think the measurement was just not very accurate.  Anyway, we're going back in a month to measure again and see what's up.  She got vaxed and she's not very happy at the moment.

Before TTC, I was on NuvaRing for a while, then Mirena, then FAM.  We have not had a method since D.L. was born.  I guess the "not ovulating" method?  We would be TTC again now if there were an egg to fertilize, so I'm not in the market for a method.

  • Nothing new here...  DD#2 is all over the place with the sleeping and eating.  Don't even think we slept at all last night.  It's been an awful week sleep wise.   We switched her formula this week, and now she's constipated...and it's not good.... I am sooooooo tired, it hurts.  But, she gaining lots of weight, so that's all great....   DD#1 - no news, starts official 'preschool' next week.  She's great!

QOTW:  I don't like the pill and haven't been on it in many years.  However, I need to do something now, because I do NOT want to get pregnant again.... mostly because of the complications I've had with both pregnancies.  I just have no idea what I should do... I have even thought about a hysterectomy (sp?)....

  • We are good, not much to report. Looking forward so much to our holiday, one week to go! We've been talking about it so much lately that when we ask DD where we are going on holiday she raises her both arms and yells: "Baceoooooona!!" Work is crazy hectic in preparation for the conference (the first 3 days of our holiday), I really need a break.

On the side note, I've really had it with people who keep telling us that DD should not be waking at night at the age of 2. She falls asleep on her own without us in the room, we kiss her goodbye and leave which means she can fall asleep on her own. Yet, she wakes up once almost every night (sometimes twice), asking for water, or just crying hard from what we think was a bad dream. Yes, we would love to sleep all night long but we've done everything to teach her to fall asleep on her own and I am certainly not going to ignore my thirsty or scared child.

QOTD: our modified version of FAM, before and after..

  • doing alright here. we're working on getting DD to bed earlier at night and so far it'S been OK, but she is waking up more throughout the night. babysteps, i guess. i am not too concerned because everything will be thrown off in a couple weeks when we move back to the states.

QOTD: i was on the pill, then just condoms. i got pg, so i am a little nervous about the just condoms part. but honestly, we so rarely have sex i am not convinced any of the expensive/hormonal options are worth it right now. we're just being extra diligent about the condom use. i think i will go back on the pill for a couple years before TTC #2 and after that probably an IUD. i hope DH will consider a vasectomy. (i was going to go w/the IUD immediately, buti have waited this long and am not really excited at the bleeding aspect--i've heard some women spot for MONTHS after IUD placement)

  • 1. Well we have beat jetlag so I figure that is a big positive. However, he's not napping very well because he's not totally comfortable where he is sleeping but it's the only place where there is darkness in my parents whole place. It's a walk-in closet. I feel horribly that he's surrounded by my parent's clothes but it's that or the bathroom. Everything else is just too sunny, even with the blinds.

    2. We used condoms and charting, however I have little faith that charting works as birth control since I know too many people who have gotten pregnant while charting. Now, we use the baby as birth control. ;) Kidding. We use condoms again. I can't take BC although I did consider an IUD.

  • 1. Things are ok here. Bruce and I have had a nice week up until yesterday and really that had nothing to do with him. I'm hoping to pull it together enough today to go to a breastfeeding group and try to meet some more PFTs for both of us.

    2. The pill is a no-go for me. Besides a bunch of other crappy side effects it made my libido non-existent. Which really is great b/c but not great for me or my relationship. We mostly use condoms and we tried FAM but apparently I was no good at it because that is how we got Bruce! Not that I'm complaining - he's the best thing that ever happened to us. We've talked about an IUD but I am a bit wary and DH is really wary so I don't think I will... I'm thinking just continue to use condoms until we're ready to TTC again.

Newporter - have you heard of Essure? Someone on another board was just talking about it and I googled and it looks pretty good. That might be a good options for you.

I was going to mention this too.  I know a couple people who had it done years ago and are still over the moon about it.

I'm so glad this came up today, because this is the sort of thing I want to research, but had no idea where to start.  I am going to read this now and see what it's all about...thanks for the lead!!!!  DH is also considering the 'operation' lol!  We are pretty fertile people, and also wary of the common methods used....so any additional ideas would be welcome!

  • I've got pregnancy carpal tunnel (who knew there was a such a thing!) so I've got splints I have to wear to bed at night and if it hurts at all during the day.  The physio also noticed my ankles are swollen and I need to elevate them whenever possible.  This scares me slightly that I'm swollen at 22 weeks.

Otherwise bebe is kicking and squirming a LOT.  I am reassured I'm not "too big" when I saw a picture of Kendra (from Girls Next Door) who is due the same time as me but obviously started out skinnier and her bump is the same size as mine, phew-- maybe this kid isn't huge.

QOTD: What methods of birth control did you use before TTCing?  After?

-I was on the combined pill for almost 10 years and LOOOOOVED it.  I know this isn't everyone's experience, but it worked for me.

  • Not much news here. DH and I have decided to proceed with this month despite all the dental work, so we'll see how that turns out. The only birth control we've used is FAM/NFP. It's worked great for us, we love it!

  • Hello! I'm new here and a bump-to-be TTC #1...

This week has been difficult in terms of trying to chart my ovulation... my temps are all over the place, no positive opk, and DH was out of town for a week last week and will be out of town again all of next week, which is difficult in-and-of-itself, but even more stressful when we are ttc and not sure when I'm O'ing. Other than that, things are good... lol

I was on bcp (Yasmin) for over 12 years until I stopped in June.

  • Could you add me? TTC #1 and living in Beijing!

This last week has been kind of a bummer, had a terrible taxi experience where the guy brought me out to someplace I didn't know, and in Beijing that's pretty scary when your Mandarin isn't great.  I've been really low-energy and tired this week and haven't for the life of me been able to do anything.

QOTD:  I was on birth control pills (Alesse) for 14 years before going off in mid-July.  I don't think I'll ever go back on them since I now realize that it totally killed my libido (and for years I thought I was just a person who didn't like sex).
