Re: Looking for family friendly vacation spot in Florida...

  • How about Clearwater? DH and I went there last month and had a great time - there were many families there. There's a little aquarium there with Winter, a dolphin with a prosthetic tail (!!!) www.seewinter.com. We also went to Honeymoon Island - a little beach in a state park with some awesome sea shells (and it's on the Gulf, so the water is pretty warm) http://www.floridastateparks.org/honeymoonisland/default.cfm Clearwater also has a nice beach, but we thought it would be neat to go to Honeymoon Island.

There are also lots of nice boat rides and things like that to do. Good luck picking a vacation spot!

  • Have you thought about going down to the Keys? I love it there.... and if you go during certain off months you can get some good deals on hotels!

    good luck!

  • How about St. Augustine???

  • My sis and cousins just got back from Ron Jon Cape Caribe Resort-- it is close to Cocoa Beach -- there is a shuttle and they have a huge resort with tons of stuff for kids/family. (My niece didn't want to leave the resort!)

That being said, there are ton of places that are fun. New Smyrna Beach is also fabulous. I grew up going there every summer.

Destin is the best beach in Florida! I am a bit biased though. I am from the Panhandle currently living in the Central FL area. But to me, the other beaches down south here don't compare.
