RP: Landscaping help

I posted this on D&R and G&L, but I would love any suggestions anyone may have...

This is a pic of the landscaping in front of our house. I promise it looks a little better when things are in bloom! I am wanting to put some type of edging around it. I like the look of a small retaining type wall, but DH doesn't think it will work with the steps.

Any suggestions for edging ideas? TIA!

Re: RP: Landscaping help

  • I can't see the pic here at work, but we used the landscaping timbers to edge around our yard, and they work very well.

  • We just updated our landscaping over the weekend.  Dh dug a "trench" around the perimeter of the bed and we used the dirt around our plants to form a "mound" (small, but used the dirt).  Some of the dirt we put back so that there wasn't really a hole.  Then we remulched and it looks awesome.  The "trench" forms a really nice line around the bed and acts as a divider to the grass.

Our neighbors at our old house did this and we are pretty sure the landcaper that did our new house last year did this too.  It is a lot cheaper than putting in an edging.
