SFAug!!

You look amazing!! How are you and baby doing since Boston???

Re: SFAug!!

  • Awww, thank you!!!

We are both doing really well. I am still running every day, doing 60 miles per week. I have had the easiest pregnancy ever! I feel so lucky. I am getting so excited to meet the little girl.

How cool you'll run a marathon - I am sure you will be doing more once you catch the bug! I only wanted to do one 6.5 years ago and look where I am now (30 marathons later :-)

  • SFAug you are my running idol! I was a pretty avid runner (well not compared to you) before I was pg, about 9 miles a day, 3-4 days a week I would do. Then I got pg and stopped totally (the fatigue was awful for me), and then I miscarried. Now I've gotten back to running and I really am committed to continue to run even once I get pg again, but I'm nervous since the miscarriage. I know you said you had an easy pregnancy (how great for you! Big Smile), but was it difficult at all for you on some days? What would your advice be to someone like me to who wants to keep running while pg? I did talk to my OB and she said I'd be fine, but I can't help but be nervous! Thanks ahead of time AugSF, keep up everything you are doing, you are such an inspiration! Blessings to your little one too :)

  • Thank you for your kind words! I am so sorry for your loss. I understand how nervous you must feel now, but the miscarriage was not your fault. It must be so tough dealing with a loss.

In regards to running during pregnancy, some days are better than others. In the first trimester, I sometimes felt tired but as soon as I got out there and ran a few miles, I felt so much better. That really helped me keep going. Then I was training for the Boston marathon so that was a big motivation to keep the running up. Now sometimes the belly gets a little distracting, and sometimes it feels harder to run than pre-pregnancy - but I just keep going. I have been incredibly lucky not to have morning sickness, no fatigue, no mood swings and only small weight gain so far. I also didn't have to deal with having to go to the bathroom so frequently, as I understand some women do. I try to stay hydrated during my runs and not to push it too much. So far so good, I am still running daily - in fact I am just getting ready to head out for a 15-miler.

Good luck! I hope you have a healthy baby soon!
