I know if I send a cheque, it's fine as long as it's postmarked today. But what about online banking. Even thought the payment is made today, I know that it will take a few days for CRA to receive it. Will I be fined as a late payment. I'd rather do online, but will write a cheque if need be.
Re: ? Paying taxes through online banking
Per my "cheater" guide - payments made at banks are not specifically provided for in the income tax act, but it appears that payments made at the bank are considered received by the government on the date of the teller's stamp affixed by the bank......
Nothing about online payments, but I would think it should be okay,
There are no penalties per say for late PAYMENT, just late filing. the "penalty" for late payment is interest....so a day or 2 of interest would be pretty nominal anyways.
