How did it make you feel?

Re: have you ever done a cleanse? Which one?

  • I took a shower just this morning! This isn't a very pro-fad board. You may need to try another.
  • Sounds like you already know the REAL answer to the question.

"Cleanses" are unnecessary and dangerous.  You won't find support for them on this board.

  • I don't believe in them, but my husband has done them twice. Both were non-chemical ones, but I don't remember their names.

The first one messed up his stomach bad and he had horrible bowel movements for the entire two to three weeks. If you want more honesty, I can be more graphic. He did not have any type of real weight loss and didn't really feel any better.

The second one did nothing and he stopped taking it after about a week.

In January, he got more serious about eating better and cleaner and losing weight. He eats less meat, especially red meat, eats pretty much all whole grains, and lots of fruits and veggies. We call it his natural cleansing process. He has lost weight and feels sooo much better.

So, my advice, even if you don't want to hear it, is to do it the natural way. You will have much better results and feel better.

  • I prefer Dove for sensitive skin.  Or some body wash from B&BW when I feel like something that smells extra good.

You sounded like you kind of knew what to expect. LOL  And FWIW, someone DID give you her husband's experience with them...

Yep, thank you very much. You knew what you were going to get when asked the question. I gave you a real answer. It just wasn't the one you wanted to hear. And since you chose to ignore the fact that you got a real answer, I'll go ahead and say that I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiments of the other girls.

  • Actually, I asked WHAT CLEANSE and if YOU did one.?No one answered that.

What an obnoxious board - I knew there would be a few snotty answers, but I thought maybe someone would respond to the question.

By the way, not all cleanses are bad. There are natural food ones, like the PP said about eating clean food - that is considered a cleanse too. I know it's fun to just be rude, but it would be nice if you were helpful to people looking for help. Sad that this is your form of entertainment.

Thank you for being the only one to respond in a nice fashion. I may have asked the question wrong. I'm not looking for a special drink, I'm looking for a detox kind of eating plan to clean out my system from crummy stuff. I don't mean like a pooping cleanse. Would you have any information on a special clean diet to follow? That is exactly what I'm looknig for.

    Thank you!?

  • A lot of people around here consider "eating clean" to be more of a normal eating plan, so I'm sure you could get some ideas/suggestions for eating clean more so than detox-type cleanses.

  • Thanks msPaula!! Okay, so I'm new - what does eating clean mean vs. detoxing or cleansing? How do you eat clean? I'm new to all of this, and I didn't expect to get jumped for asking, lol. I appreciate your nice honest answer. ?: )

  • Eating clean can be interpreted various ways, but if I understand it correctly, it often means cutting out processed foods (preservatives/additives as much as possible), eating whole grains, veggies, fruits, lean proteins, etc.  I believe someone else created a post about it earlier today (http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/13446636.aspx)  Not a lot of responses, but you could always ask or google "eating clean".

The popular "detoxes" or "cleanses" are commonly the fad "Eat cabbage soup ONLY for 30 days to rid your body of toxins" type crap.  It usually involves some form of starvation when you don't really need that type thing since your body rids itself of toxins - that's what it's meant to do.

But eating clean is generally just trying to eat the best food available to you and doesn't come with strict rules - it can be adapted for you and what works for your lifestyle.

At first google, I found this website: http://www.menus4moms.com/articles/eating_clean_staying_lean.php
