I'm on call...

I'm on call for work and if I get a call, I pack my bags and be to the airport in as little as two hours. If my work calls and leaves a message b/c I didn't p/u in time, I have ten minutes to get back to them before I get in trouble.

I'm so nervous that I'm going to miss the call that I keep thinking I hear my cellphone ring. I even jumped out of the shower to get the phone that I was sure I heard ringing, but it wasn't.

It's driving me nuts, and my bathroom is soaked now.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Re: I'm on call...

  • Where are they sending you?
  • I know where you are coming from. My husband works on call like that as well. It is such a pain, we jump when we hear some sort of noise out of the ordinary, thinking it is his cell or pager, haha!

    Where is time going??
  • My work ended up sending me to Calgary Canada one night and then Puerto Vallarta the next day. The immigration guy said, "you sure are leaving the country a lot" with a raised eyebrow when he was scanning my passport. I had no clue that there was any record.
