Need good research against colonics

My dad lives in another state and has been in poor health for some time due to lifestyle and an accident several years ago.  I am all for alternative medicine, but he has started seeing a naturopath who has convinced him that getting a series of colonics will drastically improve his health.  My step-mom and step-siblings are all for this and are encouraging him to continue doing this.  I don't get to see or talk to him very much, so I don't want to come across as judgemental or unsupportive of him working on his health, but I personally think colonics is risky and a waste of time ... especially since he refuses to eat a clean diet and there is no M.D. supervising his care.

I've been trying to do a little research to send to him ... hopefully he'll at least mull it over.  Do you have any links to sites or articles that back up my opinion or that explain the risks of this procedure well.  If it comes from a naturopath, even better.

Thanks!
