Cloth Diapers anyone?

Does anyone here use them? If you do, do you wash them yourself or do you have a service? Im trying to compile eco-friendly, but cost effective ideas for when we have a baby for DH because he is very very concerned about the cost of having a baby. With daycare being the number one cost, I can do other things to save some money. Both DH & I were cloth diapered babies, but my son wasnt. (It wasnt a very popular option in 2002) I would like for my future child to be cloth diapered as much as possible, with the option of disposables for traveling or daycare. Every little bit counts. Since I will be going back to work after an 8 week leave, Im afraid I wont have as much time to handle the cleaning and washing of the cloth diapers, so a diaper service might be the key. Any comments are welcome.
