OPK's?

I bought the Clearblue advanced OPK that also picks up estrogen. I only did this because the regulars were out of stock and I was trying to be stealthy and pick them up with people waiting in the car I will be getting the regular ones for next cycle.

Anyways, now I have gotten three days of flashing smileys that indicate a surge in estrogen not LH. The box says I could have up to nine days of flashing before a solid but is there any validity to the idea of testing more than once a day? I want to get my LH surge as soon as I can and have several sticks left.

What are you doing for OPK's?

Re: OPK's?

  • I've been using the regular Clearblue tests in the purple box (I think the Advanced are pink?) So far, I've picked up a LH surge monthly at about day 10/11, but didn't start testing until I'd been off the pill for nearly 6 months and am still not PG after 3 months of use and trying.

Are you testing 1x per day or twice? I will be getting the purple box next month for sure.

Only once per day. Typically in the a.m.

  • I always did once/day, and with FMU.  No sense in wasting them.  When you get a solid smiley, then you could test again later that day to see if you're still surging.

  • I always tested 2x a day with cheapies. Some times I would get a + in the pm, sometimes in the am...

That said- I would hope the non-cheapies would be ok using one a day!

  • I used the cheapie wondfo's from Amazon, and only tested once a day until I got a +, then tested twice a day just to monitor my surge.

  • I also just used the cheapies after a couple of months using the clear blue ones. That way I could test multiple times a day and not worry about wasting money. My surge, if I ovulated, was always short so I liked testing a lot.
