What did you read in JUNE?

We're halfway through the year! (WUT) What did you read this month? How was it? How many for the year so far?

Re: What did you read in JUNE?

  • I had severe ADD every time I sat down with a book this month so I only got through 2...

The First Phone Call From Heaven, Mitch Albom #14 - I posted a review of this, I wasn't a fan.
Wild, Chery Strayed #15 - I loved this book! It opened my eyes to many things I will never experience which I really appreciate in a memoir.

  • So, I should be finishing MAKE YOU MINE today, and that will put me at a whopping ONE book this month. I've never had such a slow months before, but the end of the school year, book release, and revising has all left me NO free time. Argh.

This will put me at 25 for the year, so I'm behind my goal of 52, but just by a little bit. I can still get caught up.

    Wow, June went by fast!

    1776 by David McCullough - 5 stars

The Manchurian Candidate by Richard Condon - 5 stars (4 stars?  I'm still kind of torn)

Attachments by Rainbow Rowell - 4 stars

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo - 2 stars (seriously, I feel like I read a different book than all of you, because I just wasn't into this one.  I'm listening to the second one now, and it's slightly better, I think)

This makes 30 for the year, which was my sort-of goal.  I'm not upping my goal or anything, I was just aiming to read more than last year, and I only read 30 last year altogether, so I'm psyched to be there already at only halfway through the year.
  • Written in My Own Heart's Blood - 5 stars, I was obsessed
Ruin and Rising - 4 stars
Push Girl - 5 stars, I loved it!

I am SO ridiculously behind this year... Push Girl was #16 for the whole year.  Although my AVERAGE number of pages per book is 670, so there's that...

    52 Books in 2014??

  • I read five books in June and 18 books total this year:

Losing It by Cora Carmack - 4 1/2 stars
If You Stay by Courtney Cole- 3 1/2 stars
Misunderstandings by Tiffany King- 4 1/2 stars
The Fault in Our Stars (reread)- 5 stars
Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover- 5 stars

I'm one book ahead of schedule for a goal of 35 books (I upped it from 25)
    Books Read in 2016: 4/50

  • Kicking and Dreaming: A Story of Heart, Soul, and Rock and Roll, Ann Wilson & Nancy Wilson - 3.5*
The Fracking King, James Browning - 2*
    Wonder, R.J. Palacio - 5*
Just Ride: A Radically Practical Guide to Riding Your Bike, Grant Petersen - 4*
    The Android's Dream, John Scalzi - 5*

I just noticed I met my goal!  Last year I failed, and was so worried I would this year that I set my goal low at 40 books.  I've read 42 so far this year.  If it weren't for audibooks I would be desperately behind, as I've listened to all but 14 of those  I've had so little time for reading-reading, but I've been walking and now running and listening to audiobooks while I do it.  Time to up my goal -- 60 maybe.
  • Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood  - 3/5 stars
    Shine - 4/5 stars
Bridget Jones Diary - 2/5 stars
    The Bungalow - 4/5 stars

I'm at 29 books for the year and my goal is 50, so I'm ahead of schedule!

I am at 24 of 52. 1 book behind for the year. I'm a little concerned about meeting my goal this year because I want to read a bunch of longer books coming up.

I listened to the following as re reads:
    The Maze Runner
    The Fault In Our Stars
    Unbroken

  • I had a pretty solid month:
    The Firebird
The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
    Dreams of Gods and Monsters
    Fangirl
    Push Girl
The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry

I enjoyed them all very much but DoGaM was my favorite of all.

I'm working on number 38 for the year now. We'll see where I end up. I think 65-75 books is my "healthiest" zone; I don't rush through like a crazy person to meet some goal, so I think my mid-year is right on track.

I'm about 60% done with Plastic Purge by Michael SanClements.  This is #40 for the year.

My original goal was 40 books for the year but earlier in the year I realized I would definitely surpass that. So I upped it to 52. I'm still on course to surpass that, but I'm just going to see where I end up.
