fb posts from one spouse to the other

there is this girl i'm fb friends with and she write shit like this all the time on her H's wall. if I wanted to say something like this to my H I would just tell him, not write it on his wall.....am I off base on this? its odd right?

Bransen & I are so proud of you for quitting smoking. And we support you 100%, thank you for making an attempt.. So far so good!! I love you xox

Before we got together you told me you felt that we wanted the same things in life, and to this day I believe that was the honest truth. Bransen wasn't planned but he has made both of our dreams come true and I couldn't be happier. I love you So much thank you for everything you do for me. I can't wait to see what the future holds for us. You are the love of my life and best friend and not to many people can have those qualities in somebody. I love you, forever your amazing

Re: fb posts from one spouse to the other

  • These just seem like such AW type posts, but then again I do not use FB because I feel like the whole site is a giant AW. I tell my Dh daily that I love him and am proud of him. I show him that in my actions. I don't feel the need to tell the whole world through Facebook.

  • That is odd.

I'm guessing she's doing it so that people can see how "amazing" they are together.

Every one only says the good about their partner on the Internet but obviously never the bad.

I don't know if that makes any sense. Lol.

  • You aren't off base with this.  We have friends like this too, and it annoys the crap out of me.

I don't remember where I read it, but they did a study that said the couples who post how great their relationship is all over social media, are actually the ones that struggle the most.

  • @bridget0117 there are 2 kinds of women on Facebook that I've seen in my past experience. The ones that only ever AW how awesome their relationship is and the ones who only ever AW how much their s/o sucks. Neither type ever seem to have that great of relationships irl. The women who keep all the drama off Facebook are the ones who seem to have great relationships. I have seen so many relationships ruined by FB that's why dh and I got off 4 years ago and didn't look back.

  • It's not true unless it's posted on FB! eyeroll...

DH and I post stuff on each other's wall, like a funny picture or a song, but it's not to be AWish. If we want to say something we say it in person. And we do that often.

  • @greenbeanqueen, that is so true!

DH and I closed our FBs as soon as we saw we started having problems. Our relationship is pretty freaking awesome but we obviously have problems too. Just like any other couple, we yell we say mean stuff then we take it back. Lol.

  • It definitely seems like she is doing it to show other people otherwise she would just tell him.

I posted once on DH's wall about how proud I was of him for completing his certificate and getting an awesome job but I did it specifically to "tell" other people of his accomplishments.

  • Yep I hate posts like that.  Or even happy birthday or anniversary posts.  You obviously live together, just tell him in person!

    .image

  • Eh... I do it every now and then but not all the damn time. Usually it is to say that I miss him or love him while he is at work but that is about as far as that goes. Probably only do it about 3-4 times a year tops.

But yes, I can see how what she says would get annoying.

What do I really hate on FB? The friggin' selfies. It's like, get over yourself. Doesn't help when 34 people 'like' the picture or comment how beautiful the person is. Ugh.

  • DH leaves a funny picture or something on my wall but thats it, we dont communicate to each other through the site. I can't stand AWish posts like that, I always just eyeroll them and think, wow, I'm sure your spouse would much rather hear this in person.

  • I really don't like stuff like that. FB is just not the platform to communicate with your SO. A cute "I love you" etc. fine, no big deal but all that is weird.

  • I' get really irritated when people post things that are more appropriately communicated by text to their SO. Stop being an AW and get off FB.

  • I tend to just post funny or inappropriate things on DH's wall. He gets a birthday post, but it's never all that sappy.

I do have a friend that posts grocery lists on her H's wall occasionally.

  • I'm guilty of doing the sappy post but it's usually short and sweet, not a long-winded dedication to DH. And it only happens on our anniversary.

More like, "Happy 4th anniversary, sweetheart! I love you and can't wait for this next chapter in our life in 2014 (in reference to LO)."

The one year I didn't post "Happy Birthday" to him, his family actually called me out on it. Because they are a bunch of weirdos and obviously I didn't say it to him face to face if it's not on FB ;) So now he gets a "Happy birthday, babe!"

  • @ashleymatt1215, how annoying! Why can't she just text him and tell him what they need??!!

I have a friend who ALWAYS posts stuff about her son. I mean she posts conversations they have, when he poops etc. She also posts when she buys stuff and gets a real good deal on it. Blah!!

I'm so glad I don't have to see that anymore. My mom has her as a friend and always bitches about how annoying it is. Lol.
  • @bridget0117  I have a friend that posts everything about her son too, and the deals she gets on baby stuff.  She posts almost every day about her 50 baby wearing items she has (that she got for next to nothing), and her homemade cloth diapers.  It's great that she's being savvy, but do you really need 50 slings to wear baby?

Today's post was finding a nursing cover for $3 at a thrift store. "This makes #26 for cheap!" What are you going to do with 26 nursing covers?

  • The one thing I am adamant about is that I will not be posting minute-to-minute updates about LO. My cousin posts EVERYTHING about her kids (Ex. "Ryan went poopy on the potty twice today!", "Katie's nap was from 11-1 instead 12-2 today. It's going to be a looooong night for me!"). No, that will not be happening.

  • I'm pretty sure if I had FB I would post pictures of DD but not everything like some people do.

Lol. My mom goes "ugh, your friend is annoying. She posts stuff she gets at really good deals and it's usually really ugly!".

I get random texts saying, "I got 3 shirts, a dress and some flats for $10". I'm like wow great deal but I really don't care. I think I might be a bad friend. Lol
  • I do a sappy post on a bday or anniversary that says I love you and appreciate you or something, but NO private details like a child was unplanned or he's making good strides in quitting smoking. That stuff is private!!  Hmph.

  • Totally dumb.

If I want to tell my husband I love him, I tell him. If I have anything to say to him when he's not home, love or otherwise, I text or call him.

FB walls are ridiculous anyway. Mine is private so if anyone were to write on it no one can see it but me. IMO Social media should be for catching up with old friends that you don't see often or family out of town. It's not a diary.
