Weekend Getaway Ideas Needed Please! ~ From Louisiana!

Hi everyone!  I am desparately searching for getaway ideas for DH and me.  We want something not too expensive and within driving distance... Louisiana, Mississippi, Coastal Alabama, or East Texas?  We've both had to work a lot lately, so we're just looking for a short weekend getaway... mostly relaxing, but something fun to see or do!  Any suggestions?

  • Are there any great hotels with spas/ restaurants on the premises nearby? Maybe a few days of massages/room service etc....
Friday, December 28 2012. The day I had emergency appendix surgery in Mexico and quit smoking. Proof that everything has a good side!! DH and I are happily child-free!! No due date or toddler tickers here!! my read shelf:
Alison's book recommendations, favorite quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)
  • That's a great idea!  I started looking once I saw your reply.  I actually found a nice NOLA hotel that offers great Louisiana resident rates.  No spa, but room-service and beignets will do just fine!  I had never thought to see if they had local rates before and didn't want to pay the hiked up prices for a place so close to home.  Thanks so much for your suggestion!

  • Natchez is a cute town if you like historical places.
  • We loved Natchez!  We stayed at an adorable B&B several months back and went and toured the town.  We plan on going again eventually.  I am originally from Mississippi, so it was just what I needed for a little taste of home :)
