Hello,  we just moved into a house that we are renting and I was wondering what is the best time of the day for sprinklers.  The house has a sprinkler system that you can program.  I noticed my neighbors use their sprinklers at night.  How long should they stay on?  Thanks for your help

Re: Sprinklers?

  • The best time is early morning. Using them during the day can lead to excess evaporation and may actually burn some more tender plants. Using them at night can increase the risk of mold.

How long they should stay on depends on what you have to water. You can talk to your neighbors, your landlord, or someone at your local nursery to get an idea. It also depends on what time of year you're talking about.

    Don't drink the water.

  • I agree with PP.  Right after we put our sprinklers in we just had to test how long to run them.  Right now, they are not on at all, but in the summer we might have them on every morning for 15 - 20 minutes (during the hottest months)...
