Validate Me Please

How early would one need to get to Alamo Drafthouse to avoid sitting in the front row to see SATC at a 7 PM showing the week after it came out (this is, of course, assuming you bought tickets ahead of time.....)?

Re: Validate Me Please

  • That's the only bad thing about Alamo - fewer seats than regular theater and people tend to stand in line & then "reserve" a whole row of seats for their group. Not that there's anything worng with that, but I end up sitting on the front row a lot at Alamo on big movie nights. I'd say maybe an hour pre-show.
  • no idea- but when DH and I show up over 30 min early to shows that aren't nearly as popular, the place is usually already packed.

why not get there suuuuper early and get some drinks/apps. and chat?

  • Yeah, I'd say an hour, minimum.
  • I suggested at least an hour, but my group (of three) is convinced 6:30 will be fine.  I'm not a huge SATC person so I don't care so much about sitting on the front row, but I think they are crazy to think it is going to be easy to get there then and have no problems!
  • They open the doors 45 minutes before the show starts. The line begins forming at least an hour before. I would say get there 1 hr & 15 mins before the show starts.
  • I heard that the Alamo is sold out of SATC tickets until Thursday!  I don't plan on even trying to see it for a few weeks.  But if I were determined to go in the first week, I'd show up at least an hour early to line up.  Maybe earlier.
  • A group of us (3) are also going, we are going on Saturday.  We are planning to be there at least an hour early, maybe 1 1/2 hours. We have already purchased tix, over a week ago.
  • I'd plan to arrive at least an hour and 15 minutes before the show starts.   DH & I arrived to see Indiana Jones on the Sunday of opening weekend (Memorial Day wknd) 45 minutes early, and we were almost at the end of the line to get in with our pre-bought tickets.  (Maybe 10 people showed up behind us).  We ended up on the 3rd row, but it wasn't too bad.

    Have fun!
