Best/Worst of December

What was your favorite and least favorite book that you read in December? What made it so amazing or disappointing?

Best - Sweet Tooth by Ian McEwan - just incredible writing

Worst - Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn - Before I get flamed, I will say that I gave it 3 stars and that I thought the plot twists were amazing. However, I did not like her writing style and it fell really far of the hype for me. In any other month it probably wouldn't be the most disappointing, but I read a bunch of other books I enjoyed much more in December.

Re: Best/Worst of December

  • BEST:  (Tie)
Easy by Tammara Webber - - This book just completely had me swooning all over the place.  I finished it and wanted to start it over again.  I LOVED this book!

Hannah's Hope: Seeking God's Heart in the Midst of Infertility, Miscarriage and Adoption Loss by Jennifer Saake - - This book was an amazing encouragement to me and the TTC journey my DH and I are on.

    WORST:
The Wedding Wager (McMaster the Disaster #3) by Rachel Astor - - This book (trilogy) was just so far fetched and the main character totally annoyed me by this book.  I was so ready to finish this book.  Thankfully, they were Kindle Freebies.

  • Best: A Year of Biblical Womanhood by Rachel Held Evans--really funny and thoughtful. I was pleasantly surprised.

Worst: I didn't read any bad books in December, but I guess the one I liked the least was The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer. I still gave it 3 stars and will read the second one.

  • Best- The Weird Sister's by Eleanor Brown... I really liked the dynamic between the sister's and I like the way the story progressed

Worst- Before I Fall- Lauren Oliver, I had great hopes for this book considering I love the Delirium series however I really didn't care for the book. The narrator was annoying and even though she changes I still didn't care for her. I know some people just loved this book it just wasn't for me.

  • I read so many good books this month so it's hard to pick just one.

Best: My favorites were If I Stay and Sultry With a Twist.

Worst: My least favorite was Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. It's just not my type of book but it was my last book for FBC and I really had to push myself all weekend to finish it.

  • Best: An Echo in the Bone

Worst: The Christmas Box (I actually really liked this book, but I realized I rated all of my December books as either 5 or 4 stars! It was a good month!! If I was forced to pick one of them that I liked least, it would be this one... but it was a fun, quick after Christmas read)

  • Worst:  The Happiness Project.  It wasn't bad, but the other books I've read this month were mostly incredible.

Best:  Can't pick.  Where'd You Go, Bernadette?, The Girl of Fire and Thorns and The Crown of Embers (Fire & Thorns #'s 1 & 2) were not only my favorites of the month, but some of my favorites of the entire year.

  • I only read one book in December. It was I'd Know You Anywhere by Laura Lippman. It was for my Buddy Reads book, and I gave it 3 stars. The story was interesting, but I felt like the ending was a bit of a dud.

  • Best- Phantom Nights by John Farris. I just really enjoyed the storyline.

Worst- Don't flame me, but The Shack. I know a lot of people love it, but I just didn't. I didn't love the characters at the shack, and it may have been a bit too metaphysical for me....

  • Best: Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt. Amazing story, I just loved this book

Worst: The  Autobiography of Santa Claus by Jeff Guinn. It was okay, I think it would be cute to read to your kids when they got older, but reading it on my own it got pretty boring at points.

I strongly disliked this book too.. I think that's actually the general concensus I've read on here too.. It got so many good reviews elsewhere though. At least it wasn't a super long book.....
