Been awhile - ? about solids

Sorry to just pop on after not posting for quite some time.  I tend to post on my BMB but it's not as active as it use to be and of course there has been some trolls crashing so I thought I would come back to GPM and ask my question if that's ok.

When did you start?  How long until you started giving it 2x a day?  At what point did or will you give solids 3x a day?

We are in no rush to increase to 2x a day, but I'm just curious at what age/how long they were at 1x a day did everyone start feeding more?  We had tried DD on rice cereal at 4.5 months.  It didn't seem to agree with her (severe gas pains/stomach aches) so we took about a week break and last Saturday started oatmeal 1x a day in the morning.  She seems to be tolerating the oatmeal better then the rice.  As you can see from ticker she is a little over 5 months old now.

Re: Been awhile - ? about solids

  • We started solids at 6 months.  We also skipped rice cereal and went straight to regular foods.  We followed M's lead and added a meal when she seemed interested and ready.

  • We skipped cereals and purees and started BLW (baby led weaning) at 6 months. We just increased to 2 meals a day at 7 months.

  • We haven't started solids yet and don't plan on it until at least 6 months.  My LO was 4 weeks early and is just now starting to reach and grab for things.  She doesn't really seem too interested in food and only drinks about 24-27oz a day so I know she doesn't "need" the extra.

If she is developmentally ready then we plan on doing more of a baby-led weaning approach to solids vs. cereal and purees.
