  • There have been a few posts about DSLR's in the last week or two.. So you might find more info if you scroll back a bit. We have a Nikon D40 and its a great camera for beginners. Good luck.
  • I am very happy with my Nikon D-80. A lot of people we know have nikons d-40 d-60 etc. We'll all in agreement it's a nice and easy camera to use.

    Good luck on your search!

  • The consensus on this board whenever this question is asked seems to be Canon or Nikon.

Canon- Rebel XTi or Rebel XSi

    Nikon D40 or D60

We are a Canon family so I would personally rec a Canon, but from what I understand both are great.  As pp said if you go back through some old post their has been quite a bit of discussion about dSLRs lately.

  • i sold cameras for a living. def. go with a canon or nikon, stay away from the sony and olympus for the SLRs.

Most people when they choose a nikon over a canon is because they like how it feels in their hand more then the canon.  I personally prefer canon but both are great.  Look into places that have bundles with the lenses too.  One model may have a great camera body but the lense isnt as great... so keep that in mind...
