Rent warming trays?

S/O catering receptions, the BF and I are catering his daughter's wedding reception in July.  Expecting ~40 people, and it will be at BF's sister's house (1000 miles from where we live) that has two well-equiped kitchens (and two fridges!), thanks to having an in-law suite, so that won't be an issue.  However, I don't have any warming pans or anything of the sort.  Between BF and I, we have two crockpots, but that's not enough to keep everything warm.  Does anyone know if it's possible to rent kitchen equipment like warming trays (not sure if that's the correct word for it)?  I'd rather not buy a ton of hotel pans--I would possibly use some of them again, but it would be a lot to store, and I would not use them on any regular basis.

Re: Rent warming trays?

  • Do you have ABC Rentals in your area? I know they will rent them out.

The reception is in New Brunswick, and I am not familiar with the area, unfortunately, but it's good to know that it is possible!  I will look them up and see if they have a location there.

  • I would just search for the nearest rental place to where the reception is.  We have tons of rental places near us and the prices are all pretty close from one place to the next.

Although, you can purchase them from party city for probably the same price as a rental if you sign up for their email list and wait until you receive a coupon.  I get decent party city coupons ALL the time.  That is where I purchased all my warming trays.  But they are the base with a big foil pan and then you would use disposable pans inside of the big pan.

  • You can rent these type of chafer holders and pan from most rental places. Most of the time they are about $8.00 each.

The chafer should come with some sort of pan posted above.

Or you can try and find the disposable chafers and pans at most party stores like Party City

Don't forget the fuel that goes under the pans see below for an example.

Most of the time you will need two to start off with for each hot pan. Than an extra set for each of the chafers when the fuel runs out. They last about 2-4 hours.

    Goof Luck!
