Re: GOT Sunday episode (SP, obvs)

  • I don't think so, I haven't seen one.

I'm all discombobulated now since I finished reading GoT that day as well.

However, I do remember that I liked it.  Especially Kahl Drogo's war cry at the end claiming Dany will have the Iron Throne.

I got really grossed out at the beginning watching Tywin skin the buck for like 10 minutes.  I really didn't need that visual for SO long.

I watched it again (I watched the first half on HBOtogo last week, since it was available) and realized I had mixed up the girl on girl porn with last week's episode, so no one understood what I was saying last week. Smart one, I know.

The last part where Drogo is spazzing out and declaring that Dany would have her Iron Throne was my favorite part of the episode. I got CHILLS! I loved the scene where Mormont saves her from the "wine merchant." It was exactly as I'd pictured it in my mind.

Oh, and HELLO Jon Snow love in this episode. He had lots of screen time and I loved it. The bromance between him and Sam is adorable.

I was seriously freaking at the end. I wanted to fast forward the part where Littlefinger betrays Ned and where the gold cloaks start killing all of his guard. I couldn't bear to watch. So. freaking. horrible. Even though I knew it was coming, it was still so hard to see.

  • Seeing Joffery on the Iron Throne is chilling. That kid is just evil.

I love the bromance too.  If it's not too spoilery, does Sam get face time in the next book(s)?  I love the two of them interacting together.

The girl on girl was kind of weird.  Not so much that it was there just that it was going on for so long and it was really detracting from Littlefinger's speech about his undying love for Catelyn.  It took me a few seconds just typing it to remember what he was actually talking about while the girls were doing their 'audition'.

    Yes :)

And that's exactly how I felt about the porn. It was like they just put it in there to put it in there. I couldn't concentrate on what Littlefinger was saying either.

  • As much as the girl on girl porn was a bit long and much, I did love Littlefinger in that scene.  He was so creepy when he got so into his speech.  He was almost a man possessed.  It was good.  He was just as passionate as the women even being fully dressed.

Jon and Sam are so darn cute.  I could watch those two all day long.

My heart just about broke into little tiny pieces when Littlefinger turned on Ned.  I was hoping maybe if I prayed and prayed, it wouldn't happen.

This! It just felt so wrong! And I could not believe the Queen had the nerve to just tear up the paper and no one stopped her. Then when Littlefinger betrayed Ned! UGH! I was very very frustrated this episode!

And my favorite part was also Kahl's battle cry to give his son and his queen their rightful throne..swwooonnn! He may be alittle barbaric but I think I'm in love :)

I'm so excited I will have the weekend to read the book before Sunday's episode!

  • Am I wrong to be jealous that Drogo has bigger boobs than I do?

  • I still haven't watched it!  We had company on Sunday night and last night we visited my grandmother, so I still haven't seen it.  We'll be catching up tonight though - it sounds like this episode has some great scenes, but I'll be FFWing through the porn.  I swear HBO must have a quota or something, because they insert naked women into the most random scenes.  It's not like the book doesn't have enough sex on its own OR as if it's not going to appeal to men without at least 15 minutes of boobs per episode.

Building upon this, I've been sort of surprised by the male nudity so far in the show.  There was a little snip-it of Theon Greyjoy a couple of episodes ago and last night with the wine merchant.  I know HBO has never been shy about the boobage, but it's weird to me that they feel the need to add men to this.  I kind of wonder where the line is now.  I'm not offended by nudity or sex in shows/movies, but I don't think it's been nessecary to have this much considering the storylines.  I think I'm with Julie, I guess it's what makes HBO and there must be some sort of quota.

ITA. This is what I was trying to say last week when I said my BFF and I looked at each other, rolled our eyes and said "HBO jackassery."

I have been trying to put this together since episode #1.  I kept thinking that I had seen the actor before but after googling him, I realized that I have never seen anything that he had been in.  So I figured he must remind me of someone.  I finally put 2 and 2 together today and this was exactly who I was picturing.

OnDemand is a wonderful thing to have.  There is nothing better than being able to go straight to Jon saying "I know where to put it" in that wonderful accent of his.   Swoon.

  • 1) the prince charming comparison is fantastic

    2) we are using HBO as a a verb now.  As in "well, they really HBOed that episode up, didn't they?"  The male nudity is so random... do we really need to see Theon's junk? Or the merchant's?  And if so, why did they cut away in the Loras/Renly scene?  Clearly a double standard as far as male/male vs female/female or female/male coupling goes.

    3) Joffrey is horrid, and should not be allowed in the same room as the throne.

    4) Drogo is awesome and the actor is gorgeous. Loved Dany undressing him with her eyes during his big speech.

    5) I just read The Hedge Knight, which takes place 100 year beforehand, and it really gave me a diff view on the Kingsguard re: their loyalties/abilities to fight those of royal blood... really makes me look at the position some of those guys are in when Ned accuses Cersei.. and Jaime's backstory too.  Definitely worth a read, only 67 pages.
