What did you read in OCTOBER?

I can't believe another month has gone by.

What did you read in October? How was it? What's your total for the year? Do you think you'll make your goal?

Re: What did you read in OCTOBER?

  • I FINALLY finished The Fiery Cross (I think it took me about 3 months). I also started ABOSAA

I did listen to quite a few audiobooks --

My Fair Lazy, Pretty in  Plaid, & just finished Mockingjay tonight.

I don't really set a number goals, but I'm probably behind for the year because of the amount of time it takes me to get through the Outlander books!

  • My October was pretty sad, actually. But everything I read was Yes Yes

Fall for Anything - Courtney Summers

Dash & Lily's Book of Dares - Rachel Chon and David Levithan

Across the Universe - Beth Revis

Self Editing for Fiction Writers -  Renni Browne

Taming of the Shrew - William Shakespere (for class)

I'm at 82 for 2010. I'm hoping to make up for lost time during my Thanksgiving and Winter breaks coming up and make 100 for the year.

  • Shiver, Dark Lover, Infinite Days, The Hunger Games, Evermore, Hex Hall, Catching Fire, The Last Child, and I think I'm going to finish Linger tonight.

I can't believe I've read 9 books this month.  My goal was 40 books and I met that this month so I upped it to 50 books.

    107 Read/listened to in 2011: 91 Books/16 Audiobooks
    Read 2012: 33/50
  • In October I read:

Under the Dome by Stephen King

    HP and the Sorcerer's Stone

HP and the Chamber of Secrets

The Baby Whisperer by Tracy Hogg
  • The Help - Kathryn Stockett  (loved!!!)

Twenties Girl - Sophie Kinsella (eh, it was a decent distraction)

    Outlander - Diana Gabaldon (loved!)

Heart of the Matter - Emily Giffin (liked - typical giffin)

  • The Exile: An Outlander Graphic Novel (Eh, didn't care for it. I expected better illustrations.)

    If I Stay

    City of Glass

I'm not doing a goal or challenge this year, but I am still keeping track. I'm at 43 for the year. It's more than I expected to be able to read with school.

    Taya 9.20.05 * Marlena 10.4.07 * Armando 11.3.93
  • I have read 42 this year buty had no goal.

The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.

    Let The Right One In

    The Maze Runner

    And listened to:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

    City of Ember

    Looking for Alaska

There's no way I'll get to 50 for the year. I'm at 33 and I don't count audio books towards my goal. I'll be happy if I get to 40.

    my read shelf:

  • The Lace Reader - Brunonia Barry - 3 stars

I am currently reading book 61 for the year and hope to read 75 for the year.  I don't know for sure if I will make it though.  But I do believe I will pass my page total from last year.  I only have to read about 3000 more pages to pass my total for last year.

    90 books in 2015?
  • Fall of Giants by Ken Follett - 4.5 stars

11 books read this month.  Fall of Giants and The Unlikely Disciple were definitely my favs for the month.  That puts me at 142 for the year, so I surpassed my 100 goal, just keep forgetting to change it to 150...I'm sure I'll make that one!  I've been reading a ton this year!

  • I did a bad job of keeping track in October. The three I remember are:

Don't Blink by James Patterson 4/5

Bag of Bones by Stephen King 3/5 (Just finished last night)

  • I did a lot of reading.  Granted quite a bit of it was Uncanny X-Men, but it's an amazing story right now.  They've got me hooked again.  I am so glad for the library right now, it's keeping money in my wallet!  Anyway I read Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days Vols. 2 & 3, The Green Kitchen, Forrest Gump, Uncanny X-Men: Rise & Fall of the Shi'ar Empire, Uncanny X-Men: First Foursaken, Uncanny X-Men: The Extremists, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, X-Men: Messiah Complex, The Catcher in the Rye, Uncanny X-Men: Divided We Stand,
X-Men: Manifest Destiny.  I'm reading The Planet of the Blind and might be able to finish it today.  :)

I've also listened to  From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, Jazz, and The Bluest Eye.  Right now I'm listening to The Other Boleyn Girl, but it's really long and I'm probably going to have to get it out of the library again if I can't renew it.  It's amazing and I wish I could listen to it more.

I'm over my goal of 100 books for the year!  Yay!!  I'm probably going to end up around 125 or 130.  But the way I'm reading TPBs, I may hit 150.

My Polymind (books, being green, random stuff)
  • His Excellency George Washington by Joseph Ellis - 4 stars

Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut - 4 stars

Fly Away Home by Jennifer Weiner - 3 stars

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court by Mark Twain - 3 stars

Bag of Bones by Stephen King - 4 stars

And I'm halway through Stardust by Neil Gaiman.

I set a goal last of month of 20 before the end of the year, putting me at 75 for the year (kind of a late goal) - I'm at 60 out of 75 right now.

    52 Books in 2014??

  • Bag of Bones and Night Shift by Stephen King, The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, and The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven by Kevin Malarkey.

I don't have a book goal for the year, but I'd like to get over 100pts in the FBC and finish in the top 30.

Overall, it's been a great month for reading for me.

  • I'm finally coming out of my reading rut, so I only read Linger. I really enjoyed it and look forward to Forever. Right now I'm at 31/50 books for the year. If I really kick it into gear I will make it.

  • October was pretty slow for me with moving and getting settled. My reading did pick up toward the end though:

The Good Daughters -Joyce Maynard- Loved it
Be Careful What you Pray for- Nicole Rouse- Great
Second Time Around Beth Kendrick- OK- waited 6 months on hold list at library. I like it -wasn't great though
Sleepwalking in Daylight- Elizabeth Flock- Good but sad
Red Hook Road- Aylet Waldman- Another sad one but very good
Life After Yes- Aiden Donnaley- OK

This bring my total for the year to 82. Not sure if I can still meet my goal of 100. IT's now November which is when things start to get busy with the holidays( parties, birthdays (mine :), decorating, cooking and of course shopping). My reading typically slows down until Mid-December.  I'll keep trying though

    Mockingjay, 4/5

    Fighting Ruben Wolfe, 4/5

    Getting the Girl, 3/5

Linger- only halfway through so far 3/5

  • I feel like I was slow in October.  I finally finished Anna Karenina, and I read Sorcery and the Single Girl and Magic and the Modern Girl (both by Mindy Klasky) and also Fly Away Home, by Jennifer Weiner.  Plus, I read all the fun snippets and tried a few recipes from The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook:)  I don't really have reading goals, I just am always reading
