Laser Inscribed number on diamond/ring?

Natalie's post about her wedding band/e-ring story got me interested in this laser-inscribed number.  I don't know what it is, but am very eager to know.  I just had my rings rhodium plated and sautered by a private jeweler in town, DH's parents are friends with him and I graduated high school with his daughter-in-law.  Not that I don't trust him, but I just want to know what this is and how it can be used for future reference (is it on the individual diamonds or ring portion).  Thanks to whomever can fill me in!

Re: Laser Inscribed number on diamond/ring?

  • It's on the diamond itself. When I get my ring replated I ask to see it so I can verify that it's my diamond.
  • Do you have the paperwork that came with your diamond/e-ring? If yes, the number that is lasered on the diamond should be listed on the paperwork.

Exactly this. Not all diamonds are automatically laser inscribed, but if yours is it will be with the paperwork from the jeweler.

    Anniversary
