What to do?

So I have numerous recipe clippings and printouts that collect in the back of one of my cookbooks.  I want to do something with them but I'm not sure how to organize them.  What do you ladies do with yours?  Rewrite them onto recipe cards and file them in my box?  Buy a binder and put them in sheet protectors?  Something more exciting?  Help!

Re: What to do?

  • My mom sells Pampered Chef, I have one of their old cook books that have clear pages to hold recipe cards and then I added sheet protectors for my other recipes. It works well and holds everything I need it to. I don't remember what magazine I saw it in or the website but I do know that you can make your own cook book online, I think that would be really fun!

  • Here is a website for making your own. The prices look pretty reasonable.

  • I put them in a 3 ring binder and 3 holed punched them. If they are clippings, I glued them to an 8x11/12 paper.

Here are some categories I did for my binder:

    meat/turkey/chicken

    seafood

    veggie

    holiday

    dessert

    appetizers

    soups/stews

    Misc.

Ooo...this is fun but looks like a lot of work!  I think I might just go for the binder for now...we'll see.  Maybe I'll buy some fun scrapbook paper to glue them onto.

  • I have a big recipe box.  Here is my process, rip them out, put them in the back of my recipe box, once I make it, if we like it, then I write it on a recipe card.    I have it in ABC order with letter cards.

After writing all of that, I do like the idea of a binder, hmm maybe a summer project?

  • I retype them onto the computer and have them filed in a recipe database. It's good because them I can put all the recipes I find online in the database too.

  • So is this a software that you buy or do you just save them onto your computer as word files?

  • I slip them into sheet protectors in a 3-ring binder my mom made for me (with a few of her recipes) when I was in high school.  I just keep adding to it.

I am a big fan of the sheet protectors. I always take them out of the book when I'm cooking, and can just wipe off the mess after.
