Dry Cat Food Question

I recently bought a bunch of Nature's Recipe grain free cat dry food. I didn't realize until I got home that most of it has an expiration date of
10-15-15. I no longer have the sales receipt.

All the bags say: Best by 10-15-15

Can dry cat food still be safely used after the best used date. If so, for how long. I have the packages stored in a dry room away from sunlight.

Should I use it for a bit or toss it in the garbage? I bought quite a few bags. Kicking myself now.

What should I do or what would you do?

My thoughts is that it's probably fine for another month or two but I'm not sure. Anyone encounter an issue like this before?

Re: Dry Cat Food Question

  • Bring it back.....you don't necessarily need the receipt, they can pull it up by the skew number ...I wouldn't feed it.

Ok. Thanks! I may just do that or see if a shelter would use it up quickly.
