Re: H&F Challenge Check In: Jan 2012

  • 1. What are your January goals? let my arm continue to heal while maintaining the strength gains I've already made

    2. Did you stick to your H&F plan last week? yes! almost exactly. It wasn't my most ambitious plan ever, so that made it easier.

    3. AWs and/or Struggles from last week? Still dealing with the tendonitis in my arm. Wore a pair of dress pants for the first time in months and discovered they were falling-off-me too big (but I AWed that last week)! I've lost max 5 lbs doing NROLFW and swimming 1-2x/week since July, but lost 1-1.5 inches around my waist.

    4. H&F plan for this week? 2 lifting workouts, 1 swimming, 1 bodyweight exercises class, walk dogs 1-2 times

    5. How has exercising made your daily life easier? It's so much easier to hold the dogs (60 & 65 lbs) back on a walk when they see a cat or another dog and go crazy straining at the leashes to get it. I also don't get out of breath anymore climbing the 1 flight of stairs to my office at work. I can carry a 35 lb bag a dog food around PetSmart no problem.

  • Just a little over one week left in January!

    1. What are your January goals?

Train for and complete my first half marathon, eat healthier.

    2. Did you stick to your H&F plan last week?

Sort of. I skipped a couple days. But I got all my runs in and a few weight lifting sessions in.

    3. AWs and/or Struggles from last week?

I have a little bit of pain in my left knee from my run yesterday. Hopefully it's just from not stretching enough afterwards. My foot has been feeling better, but now I've been getting blisters on the other foot.

    4. H&F plan for this week?

M: Run 2 miles at race pace. T: Walk. W: Walk. Th: Rest. F: Rest. Sa: 1/2 Marathon!!! Su: Rest.

    5. How has exercising made your daily life easier?

Like Sunny, it's sooo much easier to carry a 30lb bag of dog food. Also, I used to not be able to close the hatch on the back of my car with one hand, now I can with no problem. I also feel like I have more energy since I changed my diet a couple weeks ago.

  • 1. What are your January goals?

I think I've met all of the ones I set, so for now, just be consistent with lifting and running.

    2. Did you stick to your H&F plan last week?

Mostly. I didn't get in a long run.

    3. AWs and/or Struggles from last week?

I'm starting to see some gains from NROLFW, so that's cool. My lower back has been killing me though. I've also been getting lots of tension headaches.  I think both of these are related to lifting, so I've got to figure out a way to stop that. Another AW: my runs are definitely getting faster due to some limited speed work that I've been doing.

    4. H&F plan for this week?

Lift and run MWF.  Somehow get in a long run one day too. Maybe tomorrow.

    5. How has exercising made your daily life easier?

It's a big stress reliever. I think I get sick less often than I used to as well.

  • 1. What are your January goals?  Lose 5 pounds.

    2. Did you stick to your H&F plan last week?  Yes, until the weekend came.

    3. AWs and/or Struggles from last week?  I did well points-wise during the week, then I had wedding cake and punch Saturday (who can resist wedding cake?!?), and DH and I went out to eat Sunday....Luckily, I didn't gain anything but I didn't lose either.

    4. H&F plan for this week?  Stick to my points!  The weekends are always the most difficult, so I need to focus on that.

    5. How has exercising made your daily life easier?  I haven't worked out in way too long, but I feel so much better when I eat well.  I don't feel so "blah" all the time and I have more energy.
