NPR: WTF?

I received a mass e-mail at work saying we are no longer allowed to have Germ-X in our classrooms because it's highly flammable. We were told to take all Germ-X to the maintenance office for proper disposal.

Just 2 years ago they were throwing 5 gallon bottles of this stuff at us in fear of H1N1. I just don't understand.

Re: NPR: WTF?

  • what are you supposed to use then?   That seriously grosses me out that they aren't allowing it.  YUCK!

  • Can you use something else? Did they not think about the fact that an alcohol based gel might be flammable in the first place?

I use the peppermint stuff from Whole Foods. It's thick and takes a little longer to dry but smells better!

  • Hmmmm...

I might be willing to risk an improbable freak fire accident with the Germ-X.  People/kids are gross.

  • I use the anti-bac from Bath & Body Works; it smells so good! Cam you use that? And yeah, shouldn't they have thought about the alcohol/flammability when they were throwing it at you guys??

  • Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this is nuts. I'm waiting on the e-mail that restricts our liquids to 3.4 oz. (kidding - I think.)

I have some B&BW stuff on my desk for me, but I leave a couple of bottles of normal stuff around the room for the students. I guess I'll just pick a different "brand."

*Boylema* Thanks so much for the info! I'll definitely be buying some of that next time I make it to Target.

  • Really? That seems a little nuts.  I mean we had teachers who used HIGHLY flamable hairspray and they never got in trouble.
