Favorite Holiday Activities/Lights?

Every year I try to add new attractions to check out. We always go to the Festival of Lights at Watkins Park, Lights on the Bay at Sandy Point, Ann Marie Gardens, ICE at National Harbor, Symphony of Lights in Columbia and I think this year we might try Brookside Gardens and the Botanical Gardens in DC. What are your favorites?

Re: Favorite Holiday Activities/Lights?

  • I've always enjoyed the Symphony of Lights in Columbia.  Every year we make an attempt to get to - 34th Street in Hampden, the Hanukkah House, the big tree in Laurel (before it was damaged by the blizzard), and....I know there are a few others but I'm drawing a blank right now.

I would LOVE to go to ICE and the Botanical Gardens this year, we might have to add that to the list.

We are going to the Holiday Mart in HoCo this weekend.  Does that count?

  • A different kind of holiday lights, but have you seen the laser light show down at the Power Plant (on the Phillips/Barnes & Nobel) side of the building?
These are a few of my favorite things

  • I really enjoyed Zoo Lights at the Baltimore Zoo when I was little. They don't do it there anymore, but they're doing a few weekend showings at the DC National Zoo. That could be something to look into!

There's also a live Nativity Scene somewhere in Beltsville this weekend that I was considering attending. They're presenting 6 different scenes of the Christmas Story and offering hot cocoa and cookies afterwards!

  • Since we are back in the area this year, I can't wait to go to the Bay lights as well as the Living Nativity at the Mormon Temple.

It's at the Gary J Arthur Community Center - off of 97.  I had never heard of it but it seems really easy to get to.  They have different artists with their crafts, food, kids craft corner...

  • I'm hoping we can go to the pet night at Symphony for Lights this year.  I just need to be able to leave work early since the walk only goes until 5:45.
