please recommend your breast pump....

We are going to be registering soon and so you may see other posts about recommendtions, but thankfully I have a sister-in-law who works for Toys r Us corporate who is also pregnant but due before me who has registered and I can "steal" most of the stuff off of her registry..haha.

But if I plan on exclusively pumping can you recommend your breast pump?

Re: please recommend your breast pump....

  • It depends on how much you'll use it. I am a SAHM and only pumped to supplement on occasion, so I liked the miPump.  I borrowed it from a close friend but she took it back so I plan to just buy it for this pregnancy. Its a double electric for $79 so its really affordable IMO.

  • I have the Medela PIS and it has worked well for me.
  • I have the medela PISA. Just an FYI about pumps- they are sometimes covered by insurance. My insurance said they would cover $50 of it but when I got to the hospital they coded it differently and I only had to pay $20 for a $300 pump. That may be something you want to look into before registering for it.

  • I have the Ameda Purely Yours.  I like that it is a closed system and if I remember correctly Medelas are not a closed system.  I think some of the ladies on here also had issues with Medela when there was a recall on some of their pumps.

  • I have the Ameda Purely Yours and love it.  I was able to get it off of for really cheap with some specials that they had.  I'm a SAHM and only pump about once a day though so I can't say how it would do with massive use.
  • I'm a fan of the Medela Freestyle (it's a closed system), but it is pricey. Most insurance covers breast pumps as of this year, so something worth checking out.
