From the trailer of Puss In Boots you see there is a new character named Kitty Softpaws- and she is declawed. I was expecting them to present it like all the other cat things in the movie - something normal about cats. But I was pleasantly surprised by how they handled it when I saw it this morning.
Puss and Kitty both indicate declawing is something sad for a cat. She is ashamed and sad to have no claws: "humans did this to her and she doesn't understand why", and she "used to have beautiful claws".
It's a pretty cute movie (better than the Shrek movies, IMO), and I'm glad they had a good message about declawing being bad for cats! Of course there was other misinformation like Puss loving milk, but I think that's less harmful to cats than declawing.
