Any Swimming Holes Left?

Hi there!

We're from Houston, suffering from the same drought you guys are. We're heading up there this coming weekend for a little vacay, rented a house in Dripping Springs on the Pedernales River. Not sure if there will be any water in the river at this point, wondering if there are any good swimming spots left or if it's pretty dried up. We're willing to drive an hour or so to get to something fun.

Any tubing spots? I know some rivers are spring fed rather than rain driven...

Re: Any Swimming Holes Left?

  • Barton Springs is good but it does get crowded on the weekends. The San Marcos River is still good for floating. DH just floated it Saturday. I think the Guadalupe is way too low to float. The Comal may also be floatable. I haven't been to any of the other watering holes lately so I don't really know what they are like.
  • you can take your dogs to red bud park.

we take our beagle and wear our suits and get in the water with him.  its on lady bird lake and it's off leash  - and a super great dog park.
