Best way to hang deck railing string lights

I need to hang some lantern string lights around my deck. The deck rails are thick so wrapping them around isn't an option, the spacing between the lanterns is small. Do they make hooks that loop over the deck rails so you don't have to staple the string lights to the wood? I imagine using staples would be a bad idea for an electrical item esp. one that goes outside. I think cable ties would look ugly and removing them for the winter would be hard...I'd go this route if I couldn't figure something else out.

Oh and these are the ones I found at Lowes. They aren't actually paper lanterns which would quickly disintegrate in the rain/snow. http://www.lowes.com/pd_338198-68609-40593_0__?productId=3308706&Ntt=lantern+string&pl=1&currentURL=%2Fpl__0__s%3FNtt%3Dlantern%2Bstring

TIA!

Anniversary
