XP: Steam cleaner vs. hoover floormate

I really want to get something to clean our tile floors with, but am not sure which of these is the best option.  We have two dogs and a cat, and with a baby due soon I want something I can use and feel safe she will be crawling on a clean floor.  Any suggestions?

Re: XP: Steam cleaner vs. hoover floormate

  • I have both. I prefer the steamer for the most part when it comes to deep cleaning.  I think the floor mate is great for vacuuming wood floors without scratchng which is what I primarily use it for.

  • I have the Hoover Floormate and I am completely unimpressed.  I did think it cleaned our ceramic tile well but I would just rather use my regular vacuum and then mop.  I keep debating on whether or not to try the Shark Steam Mop.  I think I might sell my Hoover Floormate and put the money toward the Shark.  So my advice is to skip the Hoover.
  • I had something similar to the floormate.  It did clean the tile floor pretty well, but it wasn't particularly convenient.

I find my Haan steamer much more convenient.  I also feel like things are sanitized, not just clean like with the other cleaner.  I like my Haan a lot more than my friend's Shark.
