Are we crazy?

So, my family has been full of drama lately and with the holidays coming up, I'm a little afraid it's going to get worse. DH and I were talking today and we're thinking about taking a trip to Ireland over Christmas to skip all of that.  I am not sure if we are crazy, or brilliant at this point. Would you do it?

Re: Are we crazy?

  • Brilliant because Ireland sounds awesome and I agree with wanting to avoid all the drama.

Crazy because I wouldn't want to travel over seas during the holidays but I would probably do it anyway.

Go for it and have fun!

  • Brilliant. Possibly a once in a lifetime trip. Go for it.

We'd love to but want to spend as many holidays with his grandparents as we can.

Last year we went to FL and took my family since it's only 4 people. :)

  • If that is how you want to spend your holiday, go for it.  Be prepared to hear a bunch of BS over it since you say your family is full of drama.  My brother had a chance to go to Costa Rica over Christmas once and jumped at the chance.  My mom told him over and over how he was ruining her Christmas.

This is what I went through when I was just thinking about going to Germany for Christmas to visit A.  My grandmom was livid for weeks.  Then, got more livid when his leave got approved and we we're gonna JOP it on NYE.

  • I vote brilliant! Ireland looks so lovely.
  • Brilliant! I really want to go to Ireland!
  • Do it!

  • Ireland is amazing so I say go for it! With all the drama in our families we are not going "home" for any holidays this year, thanksgiving or christmas.  We will however be going to Mexico the week before Christmas with dad's side of the family, which I think MIL is not too fond of, but we weren't going to pass up a free trip to cancun, even if it means spending a week with my (extended)  family.

As long as you arent pining for "home" (I know I'm not!) then I say go for it! bring a camera! :)

  • I spent last Christmas in England! Were my parents unhappy that I didn't come home? Yes, of course. But life goes on, and they got over it.

If you want to see London, you know who to PM! I'll buy you a pint! :)

  • Brilliant!!  I secretely love the fact that we will be gone for all major holidays and events.

    Do it, you're young!
