going to vet tomorrow--question

I am stopping in for a nail trim for Tink tomorrow. I need to schedule Hank for his yearly exam later in September.

What do you have done at a routine annual exam? His rabies is UTD. We estimate his age at nine--would you do a blood work up to make sure all is well?

I know this seems like a totally n00b question, but with our first corgi I was not so smart as a pet parent, and have adopted both of these with their exams having been done right before we got them.

TIA!

Re: going to vet tomorrow--question

  • With our annual, we do a physical, HW test, fecal test and then whatever vaccines we might have due that year. We also do dentals as needed.

I don't know when corgis are considered seniors, but Petey does get his bloodwork done annually now that he meets that classification.

Move along, nothing to see here.....
  • My vet suggested: exam, fecal test, distemper and boardatella. Because we are not planing to board him in the near future I am going to skip that.He had a three year rabies so we are up to date with that.

We had a blood work done in february when we did his dental and it came back perfect. My vet suggested I not do another one now, but come back again in february and do it. We are estimating Hanks age at nine--and once they are nine they have a senior blood work they offer. It is $250 vs $40 for the basic one, so I am pretty happy to wait another few months to do that one.

Thanks so much for the input!

  • physical, fecal, HW test, baseline bloodwork if it hasn't already been done.  at 9, my vet would probably want a senior blood panel done.
