gas stove grates & melted plastic

last night after I turned the burner off, put a plastic bag of ravioli on the stove grate.  It melted to the grate and won't come off with the scrubby side of a sponge.  Should I use and SOS pad? What else would get it off? It's bonded on there pretty well since I couldn't scrape it off with my finger nail at all.  I'm sure it will smell GREAT next time I turn the burner on!
