NPR: Really? More crap...

DH just called and told me that notices were handed out to a lot of the teachers. Basically they were saying that if you want to stay you will be put on part time. DH did not get one. We are both concerned that will mean he is losing his job. He has been very secure in his job until this moment. I have no idea what will happen if he does lose his job. We cant support ourselves and my mom just on my salary alone. I am attempting to not start crying since I have customers in my office, but seriously, I can not deal with this on top of everything else.

  • Don't worry yet.  I would bet that the "part time" notices are in lieu of people being laid off.  So by not getting one, maybe it means DH wasn't even considered as someone who might be laid off.

  • I thought the same thing. Most of the time they'll put people on part-time to ease the process. Don't stress yourself out.
  • I'm sorry. I was in your DH's shoes last year, and it was a terrible feeling for both of us. Try to stay calm until you're sure of what is happening, but start planning now just in case. I bet you will be surprised at how much you can really handle.

This is my current mode. Figure out what to do if he does not have a job next year. My guess is we'll have to move into my moms since I've been helping her with those bills anyways. Have the same set up for the dogs, baby gate in the middle of the apartment. I guess its good they like the yard anyways. We are hoping its that he is so stable (the only teacher for jr high- high) that they don't feel the need to say anything. Some of the other teachers who got it were there longer than he has. This is so scary.
