Rabbits eating my tulips

Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop rabbits from eating my tulips?  Thanks.

Re: Rabbits eating my tulips

  • The rabbits have invaded my yard as well. I went to the garden center and picked up dried blood (or blood meal will work) and sprinkled some around the flower beds and they haven't touched a flower since. I've also heard that putting human or animal hair (like dog fur) in the flower bed also prevents them from eating the flowers since they sense danger.

  • This fall, plant daffodils around them. Rabbits stay away from daffodils.

I use chicken wire and other garden fencing to protect them until the buds get too tall.

  • we have lots of rabbits but they haven't touched our flowers, we planted hyacinth, tulips, and daffodils together.

  • If you have a cat or dog in the home then you are vacuuming their hair off everything all of the time. Empty your vacuum canister or bag each time around the perimeter of your gardens. The pet hair scares away rabbits, gophers, and other wild animals. They smell it and think there is danger so they head elsewhere for their munchies!

  • Try sprinkling some coffee grounds or garlic near tulip plants as rabbits and squirrel don't like their smell.
