live music wedding emergency!

a friend of mine is getting married on April 10 and her musician just had to cancel on her! Ack! They don't want a DJ, are on kind of a tight budget, and really love live music, even if it's just "a guitar and singer." Wedding is in Dripping Springs.

Any ideas?????

Dear Bump: You suck.

Re: live music wedding emergency!

  • Have they tried posting an ad on Craigslist? Silly yes, but people find all kinds of services on there and I found a violinist for our ceremony. Also, there are a lot of talented students at the universities. I'm sure if they were able to put something up in a public area at UT/Southwestern/TX State, there would be a bite or two. Good luck! That really blows that the musician cancelled!

  • I have an idea, wanna email me?  guavagalmail at gmail.

  • ETA:  Never mind the emailing.  I just reread and realized they're looking for reception music (right?).  If they're after just ceremony music, though, then I might be able to point them toward a really good classical guitar player, in which case still email me.  :)

Email me too:  stephanie dot aspinwall at gmail.

And, have your friends contacted the music departments at UT and TSU?  DH did part of his music degree at UT, and I remember that his fellow students were always looking around for a spare gig.  An undergrad would be plenty talented, but might not cost as much as another professional.
