Requesting a Transfer (Long Update)

I am requesting a transfer from my store to another.  I don;t know what store I would go to, or when I would go, or even if the transfer would be approved, but I requested it.

I am tried of being spoken to the way that they speak to me, and I am tired of the lies.  My store manager lies ALL. THE. TIME.  Today she told me that she spoke to our Area Supervisor regarding phone incident, but when I called him, he said that he had not even spoken to store manager that day.  She also said that all of my crew say that I don't help clean or I am on my phone all the time.

(BTW, I did hold my ground, and told her that I wouldn't be paying for the phone, that company policy states that she should not have had her phone out, and that I am not responsible for her phone or anything that happens to it.  She went to the store manager, and the store manager said "you don;t have to pay for it, but you know it was wrong what you did, in my eyes it was really wrong."  which led me to a complete WTF? because I was working.  I was doing my job.  She was on her phone, not me!)

Also, I am basically on probation, now.  She said that if any of the crew people say that I am not helping or that I would demoted.  Isn't that star quality leadership?  If they say anything negative about me, I get demoted.  Awesome.  Wonderful leadership practices.

Ok,so I am writing down everything that she has said to me that I can remember because I will be speaking to the area sup. this week, and telling him that "[She] is creating a hostile work environment."

Re: Requesting a Transfer (Long Update)

  • Good for you for standing your ground, and trying (hopefully) to do something about it. I hope that the fact that you are now on probation doesn't affect your chances or ability to transfer.

I think it's a smart thing to do by keeping a log of what she says to you (and I would also include what the rest of your crew is saying about you). I hope that you have a good relationship with the area supervisor, and that he will be able to help you out.

    Good luck.

Ditto Vanessa! Her comment regarding the phone was not warrented! You did nothing wrong! What a ***!

  • And people wonder why America is going down the toilet so quickly.  It's people like this in the workforce that cause problems and don't know how to manage properly.

Great for standing up and I hope the area sup is a better person than your store manager.

  • Marissa - Life is too short to be stuck in a job you hate. Poisonous coworkers and/or supervisors can really make life miserable... and you don't need that stress in your life!

Good for you for requesting a transfer... and I hope it goes through quickly. But I still think you should see if there is a local vegetarian or vegan restaurant that is hiring. Or maybe Whole Foods? (No fryers there for dumba$$ employees to drop their phones into!)

The Grass Root is awesome.  Sabrina and Spencer, the owners, are great people.   I know the operation is small, but you should see if they are hiring.

  • Agreed with pp's.  See if Grassroots is hiring, any of those places that were suggested.  Anything is healthier than a job you don't like and aren't treated well at.  You are not stuck, keep looking!
