Please reccomend a good date movie to rent

He wants to watch Inglorious Basterds. I want to watch Nights in Rodanthe.  We are at an impasse.

Any suggestions for movies we both may like?

  • I haven't seen it yet so I do not know if it is any good but how about Couples Retreat.

Great suggestion!  It's not out on redbox yet, which would have been ideal, but I think we could splurge on a full priced movie rental :-P

  • I've seen both and honestly I would rather watch IB.  I love N. Sparks books but DH and I both fell asleep during this movie.  IB is much more entertaining IMO.  My rec. for more of a guy friendly-chick flick would be The Ugly Truth.

  • Seven Pounds

    Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

    The Proposal

And honestly, I liked Fighting a lot more than I thought I would have...

  • What about Whip It?
    Master of Disguise

  • Julie & Julia!  We watched it last Friday night and DH really enjoyed it.
  • Sorry I haven't seen either of the movies you mentioned.
  • ZOMBIELAND!!!!! This movie is 10 kinds of awesome!
    Marshmallow
  • Inglorious Bastards was actually quite good. It's not really my speed (and yes it was very bloody), but it was good.
  • Thanks everyone!  I think we actually arrived at a compromise with the Chronicles of Narnia.  Neither of us have seen the movies, and both kind of want to.  Not really a date movie, but at least we agree!  I'll bookmark your suggestions for our next movie night though!

Should be on redbox - I got it from redbox about a week or so ago. Very funny movie!

  • (500) Days of Summer.

But, really, you should also watch Inglourious Basterds.

And, FWIW, Couples Retreat was ass, and I saw it for free.

  • Hate to say it, Twilight--DH was 100% against it when I went to see it.  Then when I bought it, he tried to play tough and act like he didn't want to see it.  Turns out he loved the story AND suggested we went go to see New Moon when it came out.  Totally unexpected.

We also just watched Star Trek and liked that together, as well as catching up on Big Love Seasons 1 and 2.  Maybe a TV series you haven't seen in a while OR one you want to catch up on.

  • Pity.  You should have gone with Inglorious Basterds.
  • Have you seen "I Love You, Man" or "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"?

Both funny.  Ooh, "Law Abiding Citizen" was really good.  And "Traitor" with Don Cheadle.

  • I would not recommend Nights in Rodanthe... it's a sleeper! Couples Retreat was funny, we also liked Ghosts of Girlfriends Past as well. Enjoy your date night!
  • i love you man was pretty funny!

I second this. IB was good, too. But I like bloody movies, not girly movies.
