Shortening the downrod for a ceiling fan?
The ceiling fans that we bought came with only a 6" downrod, but we only have 8' ceilings. I'm wondering if we can cut the downrod that the fan came with and drill a new hole for the fan so that it's closer to the ceiling and not so close to our heads. Has anyone done this or have any experience with this? I'm having the hardest time finding fans with super short downrods, and i'm thinking that this may be our only option to make the fan higher.
