How should a watch fit?

Specifically, how should a stainless steel (or some other metal) bracelet watch with a clasp fit?

You should be able to stick a finger underneath it, right?

Sorry if this doesn't make sense. I'm not sure how else to word it.?

Re: How should a watch fit?

  • I think it's a matter of personal preference. some people like them loose, some people like them tight.
  • I usually try to make sure I can fit a finger under it to keep it from cutting into my wrist.  There's nothing worse than ugly red marks from a watch that is too tight.  It should be able to slide a little, but not make a full circle around your wrist.  That's how I usually have mine fitted.
  • If it's an every day type piece, yes. That's how I do it anyways.

I also like to wear my husbands watch sometimes as an accessory to an outfit and not for utility purposes.

  • I say loose enough to be able to stick a pinkie finger under the band, but not any more than that or then it will be too loose.

  • i wear mine loose (i can put my index finger underneath), like a bracelet. i think it looks elegant that way. i have seen others wear theirs flesh against the wrist. its probably just personal style preference.
  • Yeah, I like when I can put my finger underneath.

I've gotten fatter, and now my watch is all tight. Boo.

I think I'm going to go get one more notch put back in.

    Thanks, everyone!?
