I have hope...

I got my absentee ballot. There's actually nine presidential candidates. WHAAAT??

Evan McMullin is a former CIA operations officer (wants to keep Gitmo open) and is actually a Republican and has served in the House of Representatives. He's pro life, pro 2nd amendment, against Obamacare, and in my mind, would be a vast improvement to HillRump. He's also backed by the Better for America non-profit, which is trying to get third party candidates on the ballot. FYI: he's late to the race, so he is a "write-in" in several states.

Do your own research though for sure, but he's my guy!!!

Go here for info on where he stands on the issues...

Re: I have hope...

  • Not for me, but glad you found your candidate. At this point, I'm too terrified of a Trump presidency to vote for any one but Clinton even though I strongly dislike her.

This is how I feel also.  I'm shocked to say, I like Gary Johnson from the bit I've seen and read about him.  I also wish we did start legitimately having more than "two" choices who could win.

But this isn't the election I'm going to make my "third party candidate" stance on.  Trump is an utterly terrifying choice and he cannot become President.  He just can't.  He is so utterly inappropriate I don't understand how anyone is taking him seriously for a job where one of the most important skills is diplomacy.

I normally side-eye political commercials and think the vast majority are just dumb and eye-rolling...from both sides of the fence.  But for the first time in my life, I actually saw a political commercial last night that was "wow" and powerful.  It was a Hillary commercial.

It was a stream of shots of pre-teen girls, 11-13 years old, mostly looking in the mirror.  Looking a little sad, a little insecure.  Like most pre-teen girls are.  And the audio going on in the background was Trump sound bites making derogatory statements about how women look.  Negative comments about women who are fat, are flat chested, are ugly, etc.  With the written line at the end being (paraphrasing), "Is this the President you want for your daughter?"

I'm not saying I'm a Hill fan and, arguably, it was over the top.  But, my goodness, those audio clips.  Some of which I'd heard before, some of which I hadn't.  It really drove his misogyny home.

I saw this on FB last week and the girl I know that posted it won't even vote for either candidate but I think we can all agree that was a great commercial.  sad though.  made me think about my daughter.

I think that Trump accused Clinton of going negative...maybe this accusation was made during the debate.  I'm not 100% sure of this because the debate didn't get 100% of my attention.  Anyway, if that is true I wouldn't technically call Clinton's commercials negative since they are using Trump's own words.  And that is scary because he has said many horrible things.
