anyone still following politics?

I really have not.  I don't even follow the primary schedule anymore.  I did notice that Trump swept all the states last night.  He is close to being the nominee and I really don't think it will go to a contested convention.  Hilary will obviously be the Dem nominee.  Do you think Bernie would run VP with her?  I still can't believe Trump is still going strong.  Its still so crazy to me.  I know there has been talk of him toning it down once he becomes the nominee but I really don't see that - I actually see it getting crazier.  He already said the only thing Hilary has going for her is the woman card.  I honestly see HIlary winning this election like I always have been saying the last 4 years.  I was trying to convince DH of that last night.  I told him I'm sticking to what I've always felt will happen.

Re: anyone still following politics?

  • I have been paying attention but not with the same intensity. Cruz picked Fiorina for his VP today. I think Trump needs a woman VP but I doubt Carly would switch to Trump now. I still firmly believe that the only R who can beat Clinton is Kasich. He's the only one with some experience to match up against hers.

That's interesting. I had never thought about kasich that way but I can see it.
  • No, I haven't been following except to read the headlines only that pop up in Fox News and MSN when I sign into my Hotmail account. I did see Cruz picked Fiorina. It's too late. If he were going to have a shot, he should have done that like over a month ago...

I have decided that I am voting in the general election. But, I WILL NOT under any circumstances vote for Hillary or Trump. So I am going to write in my father-in-law's name. Seriously. I think he would be an awesome president.

Plus, down the road I don't ever want to have to tell and then explain why I choose to vote for one of two losers like Hillary or Trump. I'm going to vote with an absolutely clear conscience but still exercise my right to go to the polls.

  • Only following the headlines, often times to my entertainment.  Like watching Mrs. Christie sort of roll her eyes when Trump said the woman card thing.

I voted on Tuesday.  I'm pretty sure it was the first time I've ever voted in a primary.  I felt motivated this year by the presidential race and some local races I felt strongly about.

Looks like it will be Trump and Clinton.  I'll be curious to see who they pick for running mates.  I'm thinking Trump may pick Christie.

I love your write in choice :)  I think its just silly Cruz picked Fiorina and he hasn't even been picked as the nominee.  I heard Hilary just released a tax plan a couple weeks ago which increases taxes by trillions over I forget how many years…..looks like I will write in a candidate as well this year.
  • I still follow, but it's so disgusting/uninteresting I haven't posted in a while. I'm in California, and there are just barely campaign rumblings starting here. I heard that Trump is supposed to be in my area next week, possibly Wednesday. It's impossible for Trump to get the 1237 delegates before California, but he'll probably clinch the nomination here.

I think Trump would be an idiot to pick Christie. It's already going to be a close race with Hilary, but most polls that I have seen do show him losing. I think he needs to be careful about choosing a running mate. It would not surprise me if Hillary picked Bernie, though. A whole lot of people in her party seem to worship the ground he walks on. I think she could easily clinch the Presidency if he's on the ticket.

I think the same thing too.  He will get the millennials to slide right on to her ticket.  DH is delusional. Today at lunch he was telling me that if Hilary gets the nomination, some Bernie supporters would vote for Trump.  I told him I don't know one Bernie supporter that would vote for Trump.  DH thinks Kasich would be Trumps VP.

MIL told me today that you can leave the president vote blank and still vote for the other things on the ballot - that's what i think I may do.

I read an article yesterday that if Trump wins Indiana that he will get the nomination.  Apparently that state is important to win for whatever reason.

I actually read an article recently that said that Trump is going after Bernie supporters because they are so extreme like he is. I don't think that will work well though. If Trump puts Kasich on the ticket, that would actually be a smart move on his part. I think a lot of Republicans who are just weary of Trump would end up voting for him with Kasich.

I still haven't decided if I'm going to vote for Hillary or not vote at all. Both of them disgust me, but I think Hillary disgusts me a little less. Or...I might write in Deez Nuts. He's still running right?

  • Bernie supporters are different though to me anyways - I honestly don't see my bernie loving friends voting trump.  I see them either not voting or voting hilary.  I think this will be the first time I leave it blank.
  • Would it be weird for Hillary to choose Bernie as her running mate?  I'm not saying it hasn't happened, but I don't recall ever seeing a candidate (for either party) choosing a VP who had run against them in the primaries.

Obviously that is going on with Cruz, but then it's been an unusual Republican primary with so many people initially running.

And Cruz just lost Indiana so that probably doesn't even matter at this point. What if Hilary picked Biden?
  • Just heard Cruz paused his campaign. Really thought he would stay in it.

I know some Bernie supporters who would vote Trump over Hillary.  They think she stole the election from him.

I don't see Bernie being the running mate.  There is too much bad blood between them.  But I guess only time will tell.

Last night was the first time I really, truly believed Trump could win the whole thing.  Hillary has so much baggage that Trump is going to spend the next 6 months reviving every Clinton scandal he can dig up.

Its going to get so UGLY!  I heard bernie say he's the one that could win over trump and I think he is right.  All of Hilarys baggage is going to be brought up.  Bernie doesn't really have any.  I can't believe this really is a Trump vs Clinton election cycle…...

    Kasich is out now too.
  • I feel like there is a large group of Republicans who will not vote for Trump no matter what and would rather have Hilary. Then there is a large group of Democrats who will not vote for Hilary no matter what and would rather have Trump. In the end, I think it will come down to which of those two groups is larger.

Just heard it on fox. Trump is the nom. Hate to say it but I predicted it all along.

I feel like this statement especially is just a lot of hearsay. There may be a large group who won't support Hillary, but I seem them not voting/voting third party/writing in candidates rather than going to Trump. And here's some of my own...but I have a large number of friends who are Bernie supporters but would never look at Trump as an even remotely acceptable alternative over Hillary. In what universe are we living in anyway?
  • I have always thought in a Hillary vs. Trump election, that Hillary will be a hands down winner.  There is a lot of dislike for her, don't get me wrong, but there is a lot of dislike for Trump also.

I think Trump supporters will vote for Trump and, for the most part, everyone else will vote for Clinton...regardless of the party affiliation they have.

I'd say I'll be curious to see how it turns out but, really, I just want to hide my head under the covers until it's gone, lol.

My one saving grace is, in Louisiana, we're so uber Republican that...once it is down to the final two...neither candidate bothers doing much campaigning down here.  If anything, the political ads should decrease...not increase.  At least that is my hope!

Same here out west in California but blue state. I was getting so nervous for the primaries because I wanted to vote for a Republican and help block Trump, but Cruz didn't seem like a great option anyway. I'm a registered Republican but I just moved so I think I will reregister as an Independent. I am pretty centrally aligned on most issues anyway.
