Seven signs it's time to give up on a book

I'm considering bailing on the new Anne Rice. I need to just accept the fact that her overly weepy, florid prose is not my cup of tea and even though I loved her early books these new ones are just the WORST. Goodreads put this out today and I thought it might help all of us be ok with giving up on a bad book: http://www.bustle.com/articles/136257-is-giving-up-on-a-book-ever-ok-7-signs-its-time

  • Which one?  I usually love her books but I HATED Prince Lestat but I tortured myself through the whole thing.

I hated that one too! I think she's just lost her touch. This was Beauty's Kingdom, and I did give it up. Life is just too damn short to roll your eyes every paragraph.

  • I was thinking the same thing. Like, what happened? Did she change or did I change as a reader? I absolutely LOVED her older stuff and now I just can't...
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

I think she's changed. I've been denying it for years but her newer stuff is just too...saccharine.
