Is he flirting with me?

I work closely with my boss, we are both married but I don't think he has that many things in common with his wife. He and I have many things in common so we are often talking a lot throughout the day.

With that said, I've really only noticed that he might be flirtatious just recently. Now I am not sure if it's flirting or just being really nice to me.

He always compliments me, like "I like that shirt" "I like that jacket" "I like that necklace" or he will tell me how great I am at my job and how he's so happy that I'm apart of the team. He has said once, while yelling at me

That's hardly flirting, but you sound like you want him to flirt with you.  Stay far, far, far away from anything remotely close to that.  He's married and he's your boss.
  • how is he with other individuals in the office?

No reason that you can't keep things professional while still talking about common interests. But just make sure to keep the relationship at work. Or if you plan to do things after work for one of the things you have in common, make sure to include the spouses, so he can't mistake it for a date, in case his intentions aren't on the right path.

  • No, it doesn't really sound like flirting.

But don't even entertain the thought.

If it's making you uncomfortable or if you really do think he's being too flirty, bring up your husband more in casual conversation. e.g. "Could I take next Friday off, my husband and I picked out a new sofa that's being delivered." "We went to see The Martian over the weekend. Have you seen it?"

When he offers compliments, accept them politely but indifferently, and move on. "That's a nice shirt!" "Oh, thanks. Could you send me the tracking number on that file we talked about yesterday?"

  • I would say no it’s not flirting, this is just a friendship with a male co-worker.  My wife has become close friends with one of her co-workers and I simple refer to him as her “work husband”.  Don’t read in to it and just accept his complements at face value and a simple response of thank you.

  • I don't see it as flirting either, my boss always compliments me he tells me "That dress looks great on you", " You should wear your hair like that more often you look beautiful", he tells me he's happy he hired me and that it was love at first site when he interviewed me.  I know he's happily married and I had a get together at my home and he came over and met my husband and gets along with him fine.

Your boss is just a plain old nice guy!
