Microchip renewal?

So I got my pup chipped when he was neutered last spring. Home Again is the company my vet used. Now I'm getting a bill to renew my subscription. I'm curious, I thought this was a once and done thing, not something that included a $18 fee every year. The bill/letter says that his chip only contains basic information and that this gives me unlimited updates for contact information (I've had the same cell phone since 1996, it was a bag phone of my mothers that I took over when I went to college. And I own a home with no intention of ever moving again). What more information could it need other than contact info?

This feels like Home Again trying to get another $18 out of me every year. Just curious if other people feel the same way or if there is some amazing benefit that I'm not picking up on.

Thanks! Happy Fat Tuesday :)

Re: Microchip renewal?

  • This is why we don't use home again anymore. :-\

You can register it under petlink for a one time fee of $19 I believe.

  • That's not cool of home again at all. Thanks for the pet link info!

  • The renewal from home again is JUST for "extra" services they provide.

You do NOT need to renew your service with them. Your microchip remains active with your information on it should your dog ever get lost and be scanned by a chip reader.
