What goes with potato pancakes?

My husband and I are having a little get-together on Sunday and the main food will be potato latkes. Any suggestions on what to serve with them? I?ll do a salad but not sure what else, since we don?t want to do a chicken or anything like that ? more finger foods. Thanks!

  • Sour cream!  Maybe a relish, or crudite tray.  You could also do shaved luncheon meats with rolls.

  • Little Smokies!
I always have pork with potato pancakes.

I second applesauce....some people do put ketchup on them  -(depends on how they are made), and I'd do a side of some meat.

  • giada just had potato pancakes on the foodnetwork holiday special recently. she topped them w/a cream cheese mixture w/smoked salmon, rosemary and zucchini.

I'm sure pork DOES taste well with potato pancakes, but if this is a night to celebrate Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, Little Smokies & Latkes ?will not be popular. Even if you don't keep kosher. ?Unless they're made of chicken or turkey.?

Applesauce is good. So is sour cream--regular and with scallions. ?Have a good dipping station area. ?Salad is good--so is crudite, and asparagus. Chicken skewers, if they're not to much trouble, go well.
